Commissioning nears completion ahead of harbour and sea trials

22 August 2016

Our ferry design for the Strangford service, under build with Cammell Laird, nears completion with harbour and sea trials planned for the near future.

The yard has been progressing with their in house commissioning procedures prior to the official harbour testing for clients, class and flag. All paint coatings, apart from touch up to superficial damage, is now complete. The bulkhead (wall) linings are progressing in the passenger lounge, crew mess, crew office and the changing room. Once complete, these areas can be fully fitted out ready for delivery.

Cable terminations are nearing completion in the wheelhouse, as you recall a complex and time consuming process. The radio communication equipment has now been commissioned which represents yet another step towards the completion of the vessel. The piping systems have also now been completed ready for final commissioning and harbour trials.

Our staff are on-site this week and we will be looking towards issuing another update and photo in the very near future.

We will be issuing future updates of the build on our website, along with similar updates on our social media pages on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
